Setting BIOS

  • It is not enough to set jumpers on a hard disk and connect it to data and power cables. It is necessary to correctly configure the installed hard disk in the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System).

You can get to the BIOS setting program by pressing a combination of keys that is shown on the screen right after turning your computer on.

Hard disks are configured in the BIOS menu called Standard CMOS Setup. If you set the jumper on a hard disk to Slave position and connected a data cable to Primary IDE socket on a system board, most likely, it would be enough to set TYPE and MODE parameters to AUTO for a disk designated in the menu as Primary Slave. (It is enough for BIOS to correctly identify and configure a modern model of a new disk.)

  • Having configured a new disk in BIOS, save changes made.
